The Bible’s message – that God reigns – is not a luxury given for the appreciation of those who have the leisure to pursue it. Understanding God’s kingdom – his control of life and destiny, his expectations and designs, and where he is taking his creation – this is crucial to living life effectively, joyfully, and fully. This is for everyone, not just some spiritual elite. Jesus has come to help us live the day to day challenges of life, resolve troublesome relationships, and be genuine people. That moves us to preach!

The preaching at Argyle is based solidly in the Biblical texts, often following a particular book of the Bible; the lessons preached are centered on Jesus Christ and the theme of redeeming life in this world to honor God. On those occasions when Old Testament passages are considered, we approach them with complementary perspectives – what did they mean in their own time, but how does the coming of Jesus affect what this passage teaches us about God, ourselves, and the world? The messages from the New Testament speak of God’s asserting his will in Jesus and move us to make a response to that in a commitment to living life in his honor.
