It is a “noble task” (I Timothy 3:1), an honor and a privilege to serve as a shepherd/elder at the Argyle Church of Christ. Throughout its history, Argyle elderships have demonstrated bold and courageous leadership and visionary thinking. These men are asked to shoulder the responsibility for the spiritual growth and welfare of each and every member at Argyle.
While all shepherds at Argyle are fully engaged with the responsibility of shepherding this church, they serve to consistently affirm the vision and mission to be shepherds: to each other, to the staff, and to the entire congregation. Their purposes include providing encouragement, affirmation and nurturing for all Argyle staff members and equipping each other to better fulfill their God-given responsibility to shepherd all of the members of Argyle. Also, they strive to be sensitive to the spiritual needs of all Argyle members and are quick to dispatch other shepherd/elders to respond in the event of a crisis or celebration.
Our prayer and our pledge to this body is from Ezekiel 34.
…take care of the flock
…strengthen the weak,
…heal the sick,
…bind up the injured,
…bring back the strays,
…search for the lost, and
…serve the church with gentleness, humility and love
