College

The Argyle College/Young Adult Ministry serves the college age Christians and neighbors in Jacksonville, Florida. We have weekly activities like praise and devotional gatherings and bible studies, and events like retreats, camping trips, cookouts, and other projects within the church and in the community.

While Jacksonville does not think of itself as a college town, over 100,000 students attend Jacksonville colleges and universities, dwarfing other Florida cities like Gainesville. In addition, many local young professionals and people in the military are this age.

Young men and women in this life stage are at a unique crossroads of independence and development. The most life-shaping decisions are made during this time, including career and family decisions. Most importantly, more people decide to become a Christian during this time than at any other. However, more Christians fall away at this time than at any other.

Our threefold purpose is to inform, encourage, and inspire.

Inform:
The grace of God and the saving work of Christ is good news for everyone, especially those who have not yet heard or understood it. God has an incredible gift of salvation and relationship, as well as a clear expectation of morality, for all people. It is the mission of all Christians, and this ministry, to spread this news to all who will hear and be joined to God’s family.

Encourage:
Christians are not called to face the challenges of this new life alone. It is the purpose of every believer to encourage fellow believers to strive to be more like Christ every day, and to support each other in the struggle to fight against the damaging influence of the evil all around us.

Inspire:
As recipients of God’s grace and some of the knowledge of his intentions for the world, we think of ever more ways of helping the needy and unfortunate souls all around us, and in so doing, to be Christ to the poor and to give aid to Christ among the poor. It is in this service that the free salvation offered by Christ—and the effect that it has on redeemed sinners—is the most obvious.
